PA-C means currently certified by the NCCPA. It is the credential recruiters look for, and it is not optional shorthand — write it. Degree first (MPAS, MHS, MMS), then PA-C.

Including licence numbers and expiry dates saves credentialing a step and signals you have done this before. If you hold licences in multiple states, list them all — employers hiring for telehealth or multi-site systems specifically want this.
DEA registration is a hard requirement in many postings. If you have it, name it in those words.
Specialty Is a Keyword
PA roles are specialty-specific and the first-pass matching reflects that. A posting for an orthopaedic surgery PA is not looking for generic "physician assistant" text.
Write your specialty explicitly in the summary, in your experience headers, and in the skills section where it is true:

Procedures Section
This is the section that differentiates PA resumes, and most candidates underuse it. List what you can perform independently:

Volume matters where you have it — "laceration repair (400+)" is stronger than the bare listing.
Only list what you can discuss under questioning. This section is interview material, and a claimed procedure you cannot describe is worse than an omitted one.

Include prior healthcare experience — EMT, paramedic, scribe, RN, military medic. PA programmes require patient-care hours and hiring managers value what those hours taught you. Do not delete them because they predate the degree.
Common PA Resume Mistakes
Omitting PA-C. It is the credential. Write it after your name.
Burying licensure on page two. Credentialing looks first.
No procedures section. It is the most differentiating part of a PA resume — see weak resume bullets for the same failure in general form.
Generic specialty language. "Physician assistant with clinical experience" matches nothing specific.
Cutting rotations as a new grad. They are your clinical evidence.
Dropping pre-PA healthcare work. Those patient-care hours matter and interviewers ask about them.
